Job Title:  Associate Pastor of Worship & Education

The Associate Pastor of Worship and Education at First Baptist Church Cantonment (FBCC) must support the overall ministry of FBCC.  This person must be gifted in leading blended worship style and leading the congregation in a meaningful worship experience.  The Associate Pastor of Worship and Education will be a spiritual leader who will lead the congregation, choir, praise team, and band to use their voices and instruments to worship God.  The Associate Pastor of Worship and Education will work in conjunction with the Senior Pastor and Ministry Leaders to direct, oversee, and coordinate the education ministries of FBCC in a manner that glorifies God.  The Associate Pastor of Worship and Education is accountable to the Senior Pastor.  



  • A calling to pastoral ministry
  • Bachelor’s degree. Some formal training in music (specifically church music) and a seminary degree is preferred 
  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him
  • A belief that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God 
  • In agreement with the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message 
  • Join the membership of First Baptist Church Cantonment and agree to uphold our church’s covenant and statement of faith
  • Understanding of, and willingness to serve within the doctrinal commitments of the church 
  • Maintain God ordained priorities in life putting Jesus Christ first, your spouse second, your children third, and the ministry fourth   
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and worship philosophy of FBCC
  • Commit to positive relationships and communication with the Senior Pastor and other ministry staff leaders and secretarial staff 
  • Commit to positive relationships with deacons, church lay leadership, and general church family 
  • Gifted in leading blended congregational worship
  • Skilled in choral, vocal, and instrumental direction.
  • Able to read music
  • Develop and manage annual budget for both Worship Ministries and Education Ministries
  • Good organizational skills
  • Should have experience leading and managing teams 
  • Reach out to the unchurched in the community, engage them with the gospel, and involve them in the work of the church 
  • Participate in general pastoral duties as needed (weddings, funerals, counseling, etc.) 
  • Should have the ability to delegate responsibilities 
  • A lifestyle that is congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9)  



Worship Responsibilities:

  • Work with Media and audio leader in the use of technology in worship and in the use of sound, lighting, computers, Pro Presenter, Power Point, and video projection
  • Organize, coordinate, communicate, implement, and evaluate total worship and Music Ministry
  • Lead Sunday morning, Wednesday evening and any other special services
  • Lead Choir and band practice
  • Able to incorporate other art forms as needed
  • Build the necessary teams to carry out the worship
  • Plan the corporate worship services of FBCC in consultation with the Senior Pastor and do so with prayer, conceptual forethought, theological accuracy, and musical appropriateness
  • Ensure that all the musical and technical aspects of the service advance the theme for the day
  • Maintain music library, materials, supplies, musical instruments and other sound equipment
  • Oversee song and choral selection, media preparation and presentation, sound and lighting enhancements, and coordination of all instrumentalists, vocalists, and dramatists
  • Communicate the worship ministry schedule and orders of worship to the church Secretary for promotion (digital/print media)
  • Direct all weekly activities and rehearsals necessary to facilitate worship in services
  • Provide pastoral care for the worship teams and choirs
  • Introduce our worship teams and choirs to worship training provided by other ministries, books, and conferences
  • Plan major seasonal and/or outreach musicals/dramas 
  • Responsible for his own supply when he is out for any reason
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor


Education Responsibilities

  • Lead in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive program in Christian education  
  • Serve as the educational resource person and advisor to the leaders of Sunday School, Discipleship Training, Women’s Ministry, Men’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry and VBS
  • Lead in the recruitment and training of volunteers
  • Lead special church projects of educational/training nature such as camps, retreats and evangelistic outreach
  • Study church needs for educational curriculum and counsel with church leaders regarding available curriculum
  • Coordinate and conduct new members orientation program 
  • Serve as Sunday School Director
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor
